Robert Sieoman Brandt died Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Salemtowne Retlroment Community. He was born in Cleveland, OH, on November 4, 1931. His parents were Myron Starr Brandt and Eleanor Sleeman.

Brandt. His family moved to Atlanta, GA in 1948 whare ha met Elizabeth Righton Gordy. They married in 1953.

Mr. Brandt attended Cornell University and received his engineering degree from Georgia Tech. He retired from DuPont in Wilmington, DE after a career spanning more than 39 years, with assignments in engineering, production, marketing and human resources. Bob served in the Korean conflict as a fighter pilot In the United States Air Force and retired as a Captain in the Air Force Reselve. A collegc football player, Mr. Brandt retained his Interest in the sport by officiating at the high school and collegiate level including the Attentic Coast Conference. upon retirement, he became a full-time volunteer with various organizations. Mr. Brandt served in the community as a mentor to clomentary and middle school students at Cathedral Choir School.

He served as an advocate for victims of assault and as a crisis line listener ror Contact Lifeline and received the Delaware Governors Outstanding Volunteer Award. Mr. Brandt was active at Christ Church Christiana Hundred where he served on the vestey. Mr. and Mrs. Brandt relocated to Winston-Salem in 2013 to be closer to their daughters.

He was preceded in death by Elizabeth G. Brandt, his wife of 62 years, who passad away in December of 2015 and daughter Beth Brandt. Mr. Brandt is survived by his two daughters, Catherine Ralston and husband J. Er Ralston and Margaret Surratt and husband Raymond Surratt, both of Winston-Salem, NC; two grandchildren, Bradford Ralston of Dallas, TX and Hotly Ralston of Charleston, SC; a brother, Peter S. Brandt and wife Mimi, Fleetwood, NC, and sister, Carolyn Wheeler and husband Robert, Big Canoe, GA.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. and Mrs. Brandt Wii’ be held Friday, February 26th at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Church Christiana Hundred. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
